Neymar Jnr insists leaving Barcelona for Paris St Germain will not be the end of his football career after scoring a goal at his debut game.
The Brazil international made an impact in his first game since completing a world-record 222million euro (£200.6million) move with a goal and an assist as PSG cruised to a 3-0 win at Guingamp.
Critics argued that leaving Barcelona for Ligue 1 is a set back, but the 25-year-old is happy to prove them wrong and his content at the moment.
“I knew it would be very difficult to leave Barca but I am very happy to be here,” he said in quotes reported by L’equipe,
“People think that you die after leaving Barca, but no, it’s the opposite. I’m more alive than ever, I play, I’m very happy. The country, the city and the team change, but football is the same.”
After Jordan Ikoko’s own goal gave PSG a 52nd-minute lead, Neymar brilliantly set up Edinson Cavani to make it 2-0 before opening his account for the club with a simple close-range finish with eight minutes left.
Neymar reckons he and his new team-mates can only get better.
“It’s always important to score, and I hope to score more, but I want to help the team win even more, first and foremost,” he told his new club’s website.
“We played well, scored goals and we’re satisfied with the game. We linked up well on the pitch, we’re going to continue getting to know each other. There are quality players, it’s a great team.
“I knew (Cavani) was a top, top player and that we would have an understanding. We are continuing to get to know each other, but it’s easy to play with him and Angel (Di Maria).
“We’re going to keep getting better.”
PSG boss Unai Emery was pleased with his new signing’s start to life in the French capital.
He told psg.fr: “He’s a great player. Great players always find each other and are happy to play together. There are a lot of them in this team.
“We put in the great performance we wanted to.”

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has expressed his disapproval concerning the club's treatment of him this summer and said he is “not a criminal” as he hope for a move to Atletico Madrid.
Costa claims he was told he was not wanted by the Italian manager Antonio Conte via text message in the summer, has yet to exit Stamford Bridge but did not return from his post-season break.
The 28-year-old said he was happy at the club until Conte made it clear he had no future in his team, and now wants to return to his former club he left in 2014 before joining Chelsea.
Costa said he is yet to report for training as he does not want to train with the Chelsea's reserves, and is enjoying his stay in Brazil and paying club fines until his future is decided.
“I am waiting for Chelsea to set me free. I didn’t want to leave. I was happy. When the manager does not want you, you have to go,” he told the Daily Mail.
“In January, things happened with the coach. I was on the brink of renewing my contract and they put the brakes on it. I suspect the manager was behind it.
“They gave me a week extra off but since then it’s fines all the way. They want me training with the reserves. I am not going to do that.
“I am not a criminal and I am not in the wrong here. So, if they need to fine me, let them fine me.”
The striker, who said he feels Conte “doesn’t possess charisma”, was not happy with the way he was told to leave.
He added: “There are ways of going about it. You don’t do it by text message. You should be honest and direct to someone’s face.”
The playermaker hopes to sort his future as fast as possible but is ready  to miss a year of playing rather than move somewhere other than Atletico, who are under a transfer embargo until January.
He said: “My desire is to go to Atletico. I have rejected other offers. They want to sell me to China or other teams. If I’m off, I’m going to the club I want to go to, not the club that’s paying the most.
“I am open to being a year in Brazil without playing, even if Chelsea fine me for a year and don’t pay me. I’ll come back stronger. If I was in the wrong, I’d go back now and do as they say.”

Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann is reportedly still considering an offer to join Manchester United this summer.
The offer has been connected with a move to Old Trafford since the beginning of the summer and a possible twist at Atletico could provoke him to leave for the Premier League.
A report in Don Balon claims the Frenchman would be willing to join United if Atletico decided to sell goalkeeper Jan Oblak to PSG.
The 26-year-old was a target for United when David De Gea’s future was gloomy, is being tipped to move to the big-spending French giants and Griezmann believes that would show a lack of ambition on Atletico’s part and would proboke him to quit.
The forward had previously stated that there was a ‘6 out of 10’ chances  that he would be playing in England this season while he also felt that he would be letting Atletico down by leaving now, given their current transfer ban.
However, Oblak’s potential exit could then emit a bidding war for Griezmann, who has also been a major target for Barcelona in the past and would be even more so now after Neymar’s exit to PSG.
If it happens that the reports from Spain have any form of substance then United coach Jose Mourinho will surely be on watch, having lost out on a potential move for Gareth Bale while Ivan Perisic’s switch from Inter Milan is showing no signs of moving any closer.

Liverpool have given the name of the player they want to replace Philippe Coutinho, while Newcastle have stepped up their efforts to swoop an Arsenal star, according to Sunday’s papers. So here's the gist.

LIVERPOOL TARGET NAPOLI PLAYMAKER

Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants £60m-rated Lorenzo Insigne if he has to replace Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho.
The Reds chief is said to have been a long time admirer of the 26-year-old attacker, who scored 20 goals for a Napoli side that finished third in Serie A last season.
The Italian outfit, however, insist the player is not for sale, according to report in the Sunday People.
But with Liverpool poised to net around £100m, if they decide to sell Coutinho to Barca, they would be in a very strong position to try and lure the Italy international to Anfield.
Should they fail with an offer for Insigne then 21-year-old Germany wonderkid Max Meyer is tipped to be the next man on Klopp’s list.

TOON STEP UP CHASE FOR ARSENAL STAR

Rafa Benitez has reportedly increased his bid to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
The England star is said to reckon that his days are numbered at The Emirates after he was left out of the squad to face Leicester in Arsenal’s Premier League opener on Friday night.
Arsenal manager had stated before the game that the 25-year-old was not fit enough to feature but Wilshere has revealed otherwise, saying that he feels in “top condition” after recovering from a fractured leg in April.
Wilshere is currently featuring in Arsenal’s Under-23 side in a bid to prove his fitness but Newcastle’s interest will be a huge boost to a player who no longer looks to be part of Wenger’s plans.
Toon boss Benitez is desperate to bring in more new signings before the transfer window shuts on August 31 and the addition of Wilshere could be a real coup at St James’ Park, should the report in the Sun on Sundayprove correct.

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley opened up that his naivety made him make some "unacceptable" decisions when he first took over the club.
In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, which will be aired on Sunday evening’s ‘Mike Ashley: Speaks Direct’ special on Sky Sports Premier League at 7pm, the 52-year-old directly disclosed all, following the marking of his 10 years at St James’ Park.
Ashley declared that he was too fast to sever all ties Allardyce had with the players in 2008 after buying the club, and also should not have renamed the stadium to the Sports Direct Arena, but that all his wrong actions were in hindsight.
When asked to give a description of himself throughout his 10-year work, Ashley told David Craig: “Very naïve in the beginning. In the middle I thought I was just about beginning to get my arms around it a little bit, we had a manager on an eight-year contract [Alan Pardew].
“We had the finance right, talked about investing in the training ground and the academy, we had a strategy, buying young talent and developing.
“That was around 2013, 2014, going along quite well, and then within 18 months the wheels had come off, going back to really having to start at the beginning again
“I probably rushed in too early. The first thing, letting Sam Allardyce go, I was probably too keen to get going and make a difference, and I was a bit naïve about how football worked.”
And as for changing the name of the stadium in 2011, Ashley revealed that he wanted to bring in as much money for the club as possible to reinvest before he eventually changed his decision less than a year later.
“The first thing you feel is stupidity, because as soon as you know the hindsight of something, you know what you were doing wrong.
“For example, I thought it was the right thing to do was to generate as much money as possible for Newcastle, so when people say to me: ‘Whatever you do on an interview do not talk about changing the name of St James’ Park!’ Well I’m me, and I’m going to talk about making an error, and I should not have changed the name of St James’ Park. I should not have done that.
“Football is not all about making money and reinvesting it into football clubs, it has a very strange balance to it. I wanted to get naming rights, get money in and invest it into the club.
“The reality is, the vast majority of the Geordie fans would rather have the name of St James’ Park and finish maybe one or two places lower in the table, because they want to keep it special.
“You begin to learn that the special side of Newcastle means a little bit more than the ultimate end performance on the pitch.”
Newcastle have gone to relegation twice and had just one top 10 finish in the Premier League during Ashley’s time at the club, leading fans to consistently express their unhappiness.
Ashley added: “I actually understand how cross the fans were. If I was a fan, would I have been as upset as they were? I would probably have been worst!
“It wasn’t acceptable what happened at Newcastle United Football Club, but of course I never did it on purpose. There was no gain for me at all to get certain things wrong.”

Pep Guardiola reveals Manchester City “are a strong club” and has made known his pleasure with the new set of players following the club’s 2-0 victory over Brighton on Saturday night.
Brighton did great as they carry on to keep City out until the 70th-minute when David Silva played Sergio Aguero in to open the scoring.
And Lewis Dunk own goal just five minutes later put the game beyond the Seagulls and gave Guardiola’s men a good beginning to the new Premier League season.
“We had chances in the first minutes,” Guardiola told BBC. “We have controlled the counter-attacks and we didn’t concede one chance. We are going to improve the way we attack.
“I was very happy with the new players. I want to say thank you to the club. We have huge players with lots of talent. Big congratulations to all the people in Manchester City – we are a strong club.
“I want to continue with what we did in the last three games of pre-season. We were stable but we have to try to improve. The most important thing was to win the first game.”

We apologize for not keeping you updated for sometime now.  But promise to do that now that the season has begun.  Let's have fun this season!

Alvaro Morata reveals he will be happy to finally become a Chelsea player after discussing what he says has been a “strange summer” amid Manchester United’s failed attempts to sign him.
The Real Madrid striker is on the brink of a move to Chelsea for an initial fee of £58million, with the fee possibly rising to £70million dependent on his success at Stamford Bridge.
But it could have all panned out differently for the Spain striker with Morata close to joining United, before the Red Devils instead opted to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton.
With his future finally close to being resolved, Morata discussed his rollercoaster of emotions.
“It has been a slightly strange summer for me,” he told AS when questioned about Manchester United’s failed attempts to sign him. “A lot of things have happened.
“In the end, if God wishes, tomorrow I will be at a club that have wanted me for years, with a manager whom I have spoken to constantly. So I’m really happy.
“I have been training hard for whatever outcome, but I was clear that this was my objective. It’s sad to leave Real Madrid, but I hope that everything will go well for me at Chelsea.
“Until I see myself there, passing the medical and being presented, I still won’t be completely content. We have seen everything that has happened this summer, so I would prefer to wait until everything goes well.”

Liverpool have been given the green light to sign a £15m-rated Germany striker, while Chelsea’s demands have sent Juventus running, according to today’s rumours from around Europe.

LIVERPOOL HANDED KRUSE BOOST

Liverpool target Max Kruse will be allowed to leave Werder Bremen this summer – if he wants to.

The 29-year-old has reportedly been high up on Jurgen Klopp’s summer wishlist, though he may face competition from West Ham and Southampton.
Breman boss Frank Baumann is quoted as saying there are “no guarantees” he will remain at the club beyond this transfer window, while the club’s president has said any player who doesn’t wish to play for the club can go.
Kruse is rated in the £15million bracket by his club and scored 15 goals for Werder last season.
The player has also won 14 caps for Germany.

JUVENTUS BALK AT MATIC FEE

Chelsea may have to lower their demands for Nemanja Matic after Juventus decided €45million was too excessive for the midfielder.

Matic’s Chelsea future has been in question all summer, with Manchester United also among those credited with a serious interest.
However, it was Juventus who made the first move for him, but they have backed off from a deal over Chelsea’s asking price, report CorSport.
It is claimed that Matic’s non-involvement in Chelsea’s pre-season tour has encouraged Juventus to take a more hard-line stance on negotiations, so while talks look to have stalled, they don’t appear to be dead in the water.

PSG IN FRESH ALEXIS BID

Paris Saint-Germain will return with a €40million offer for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, reports Le Parisien.
The Chilean has been linked with the Ligue 1 giants all summer, but they may turn their attentions back to him should they fail to prise Neymar away from Barcelona.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has publicly stated that the decision has been taken not to let Sanchez leave this summer. However, with just a year left to run on his current deal, just how strong that assertion is could easily be tested.

Divock Origi has outlined big targets for the 2017/18 season as he bids to make further improvements under Jurgen Klopp.
The Belgium striker is much appreciated by Klopp, despite not always getting into the German’s starting XI, with Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane often preferred in attack.
The addition of Mohamed Salah from Roma provides another obstacle for Origi, who joined in a £10million move from Lille in 2014.
Nonetheless, the player is determined to hit the ground running this season and told  LiverpoolFC.com of his ambitions for the new season.
“I’ve made steps and it’s [up to] me to keep progressing,” he said.
“I feel really good so I go into the season with a lot of excitement.
“I’m going to take it game by game, training session by training session, just trying to express myself and enjoy myself. When I enjoy the game, I always play good.”
Origi refused to divulge the targets he had set himself, but safe to say the striker is ready to push himself to the limits in a bid to impress Klopp.
“I set personal targets, high targets – it’s always good to be very ambitious and tough on yourself, and I think that will push me to do well,” he added.
Speaking about the manager, Origi added: “He always expects us to be ambitious and give our best.
“I haven’t really spoken to him one on one but, for me, I already know what I have to do.
“I’ll just go with a lot of excitement and enjoy the game and try to take every minute I get.”
Origi has scored 21 goals in 76 Liverpool appearances to date and could be given his first outing of the summer in Wednesday’s pre-season opener against Tranmere Rovers

Arsenal have been given a little push in their efforts to sign teenage superstar Kylian Mbappe after it was claimed the Monaco forward held a three-hour meeting with Arsene Wenger to discuss his future.
The France international has has become the most wanted and hottest player following his stunning breakout season that ended with his side winning the Ligue 1 title.
The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG have all been connected with moves for Mbappe this summer, while Monaco are ready to increase the player's pay in a bid to make him stay at the club.
However, the forward is known to have massive respect for the Gunners manager Arsene Wenger and France Football claims the teenager met with his fellow compatriot last month to talk about his future and a possible move to the Emirates.
The meeting is said to have been held on June 14 after France’s international friendly victory over England.
Arsenal have had an initial £87million bid rejected for his services, with Monaco believed to be holding out for nearer the £100million mark for the 18-year-old.
Speaking about his interest in the wonderkid on Tuesday, Wenger admitted a deal for the teenager looked uncertain given the facts that he could land any club in the world.
“He’s a player who, when he gets up in the morning, can chose where he wants to go,” Wenger said of the teenager.
“There are not many players with that kind of luck because he’s 18 years of age and all of Europe has a red carpet open for him. Nobody can say he is not interested in a player of that calibre, all the clubs are interested in him.”
Arsenal are also in the market for his Monaco teammate Lemar.
Gunners are thought to have already lodged two bids for the Frenchman, the second of which is around £45million, but Monaco are reported to be holding out for up to £80million.
And Wenger has admitted that the club are interested in the 21-year-old.
“He’s a player that we follow yes. That we look at,” said Wenger.
“But it’s speculation at the moment. There is nothing really concrete about any signing. The rest is only speculation.
Thomas Lemar: On Liverpool's radar
“I am open to get some more signings, but it is not easy to find the players who can strengthen our squad, because we have top-quality players.
“There are two ways to improve always: analyse what we did well last season and what we did not so well and improve that, and then you can bring new players in.
“But at the moment, because we are in pre-season, it is very important for us to analyse well what happened last season and where we can improve.
“We have top quality in our squad, and at the moment I focus on that.”

Kurt Zouma will reportedly hold talks with both Stoke and West Brom on Wednesday as he considers a loan move away from Chelsea.
The return of Andreas Christensen from a two-year loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach and the signing of Antonio Rudiger from Roma have pushed the France star further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Having only made 13 appearances in all competitions last season, the player has been given permission by Antonio Conte to leave on loan for a season.
It was thought former St Etienne defender Zouma would be heading back to Ligue 1 for a year, with both Lyon and Marseille reportedly interested, but Sky Sports claim the centre-half will instead look to further his education in the Premier League.
Both Stoke and West Brom are on the lookout for new defenders, not least the Potters who missed out on John Terry and look unlikely to sign Bruno Martins Indi in a permanent deal from Porto.
Zouma spent 11 months out of action after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Manchester United in February 2016, but returned in time to help Conte’s side durin the run-in.

The Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has made solemn declaration to give all three goalkeepers a run-out during pre-season before making a decision on who will sbegin the season as Liverpool’s No 1.

Kloop sees no reason to bring in a new No 1 this summer, despite criticisms being shot at Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius on several occasions last season.

And with Danny Ward coming back from a season-long loan at Huddersfield last year, Liverpool boss Klopp reckons his goalkeeper options have never been better.

“That’s very comfortable for the manager, three really good goalkeepers,” Klopp told the club’s official website.

“It is like it is and nothing is decided, they can all show how good they are. I don’t want to bring doubt so that they start doubting.

“They are at a fantastic club and a fantastic football club needs fantastic goalkeepers. We had a really good goalkeeping season.

“Yes, it was a little bit difficult for Loris but I’m sure he had his part in the development of Simon, who played a really good season.

“And Danny played a fantastic season at Huddersfield with a big success at the end.

“We have three goalkeepers and they can all show what they are able to do, and then we will see who will start.”

Of the three goalkeeping options, it looks like it may be Karius who has a lot to prove.

The German battled when given a chance last season, but the former Mainz 05 star is determined to hit the ground running this time around.

After struggling on his move to Merseyside, however, Karius is determined to fight back this campaign.

“I didn’t have an easy first season with a bit of a struggle and injuries,” he told LiverpoolFC.com.

“Now I want to prove myself, do better than last season and win the shirt back.

“It was a new experience for me, with a lot to learn. Even in the negative spell, I took positives out of it and learned a lot that was new to me.

“I feel strong mentally and also on the pitch. I want to prove myself.”

Romelu Lukaku passed medicals at Manchester United and is expected to conclude his £75million move to the club on Monday.
The former Chelsea player is at the edge of becoming United’s most expensive-ever signing from a rival Premier League club and is thought to have agreed terms on a five-year deal at Old Trafford.
But with some questioning the his workrate and whether he is truly a United quality, the striker attracted the wrong kind of headlines over the weekend after he was allegedly arrested in Los Angeles.

Nonetheless, the out going Everton man insists he has what it takes to become United’s main man up front and a replacement in terms of the goals scored by Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season.
“Zlatan did a wonderful job for the club,” Lukaku told ESPN FC. “He was the main guy at Manchester United, and he’s a guy I really look up to and who I learn from a lot because we share the same agent.
“But I’m Romelu Lukaku – I’m not Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I will fill up the striker position in my way, but I know I have to work really hard and deliver more than I’ve done before.”

Lukaku also waved off questions about whether he can play for Jose Mourinho, given he failed to break into the first team when he was Chelsea’s manager.

“You know, we were together under different circumstances,” he explained. “Obviously, the first time when I met him, I was still a young kid, and I was eager to play. And he understood my decision why I left at the time.

“Now I’m 24. I’m a grown man. He sees the maturity that has grown throughout the years, so I’m really thankful for the opportunity he gave me again.

“For me, I think it’s the perfect opportunity. I’m 24. I never won a major trophy, but I’m eager to win something and to be part of a team that wins trophies, and I think he’s the right guy to help me in that.”

This is the best gist of the day!
Manchester United are closing in on the signing of a £62million playmaker, while Cristiano Ronaldo has made a decision over his Real Madrid future, according to Monday’s newspapers.

MAN UTD CLOSE IN ON REAL PLAYMAKER

Manchester United are reportedly deep in talks with Real Madrid over a big-money contract to pen James Rodriguez.
The transfer is likely to cost United €70m (£62m), while it will also mean  the Red Devils have beaten Premier League champions Chelsea to the Colombia international.

Rodriguez has been a long-term target for United and with Romelu Lukaku’s impending £75m switch from Everton close to being announced, the Old Trafford outfit could sign almost £140m worth of attacking talent in the space of days.
However, Real midfielder Luka Modric has warned the 25-year-old that a move to Manchester United would be a step down, according to the report in The Independent.
“It’s certainly not an easy decision to leave Madrid,” he told Marca. “When you leave here, nothing is the same. You’re at the best club in the world, that’s for sure, and from there you can only go down.
“Everyone will have their reasons. If I continue like this, I will do everything possible to stay, but things in football change fast.”

RONALDO HAS REAL CHANGE OF HEART

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly undergone series of change of heart over his future at Real Madrid and has decided to remain at the La Liga side.
Madrid president Florentino Perez admitted Ronaldo was left ‘angry and hurt’ after accusations from the Spanish authorities that he had evaded £12.9million in tax.
The Portugal star, 32, informed the club that he would leave if he was convicted of tax fraud and even it’s reported that he even held a secret meeting with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi over a move to the Ligue 1 giants.
However, AS reports that Ronaldo has now chosen to remain at Madrid, having been convinced by the club’s hierarchy that he remains crucial to their future plans.

Premier League clubs are heading speedily towards financial ruin due to chronic overspending, according to a new report by financial analysts Vysyble.
The report claims the long-term implications of those losses could be a sort of breakaway by the league’s biggest clubs and the creation of a European Super League.
Titled ‘We’re so Rich it’s Unbelievable’, the document is based on the accounts of all Premier League clubs between 2008/09 and 2015/16, the last season for which data is available.
Based on the principle of “economic profit” – the difference between revenue and costs, including the so-called “opportunity of cost” of not doing something else with your money – the report claims Premier League clubs lost £2billion in eight years.
One of the report’s co-authors, Roger Bell, said: “Financially, football is failing. Britain’s biggest football clubs are spending much, much more than they are making.
“The Premier League, and its executive chairman Richard Scudamore, should be very worried.
“Our analysis shows clubs are losing a record £876,700 every single day. Despite TV bringing in huge amounts of cash every year, it does not meet the many millions spent on players’ wages.
“Clubs needs to face reality about their dire financial situation before they can’t afford to pay the bills and some go to the wall.”
This stark warning runs counter to most recent analyses of the Premier League’s financial health, with many experts pointing to restrictions on excessive spending introduced after Portsmouth’s collapse in 2012 and the gravity-defying rise in broadcast revenues.
But Vysyble’s John Purcell told Press Association Sport he and Bell disagree with the view that football clubs are better run now than they were a decade ago.
“Most of them are spending a lot more than they’re taking in,” said Purcell.
“Across the league, clubs are losing £8.80 for every £100 they bring in, and that’s based on 2015-16. I suspect it will be more like £12-13 now. The game is facing massive financial and structural risk.”
Purcell said only five clubs made an economic profit in 2015/16, the worst performance since 2012/13, with Chelsea and Manchester City accounting for more than half of the league’s total losses over the report’s eight-year period.
However, this report’s findings will raise eyebrows among many fans, as it ranks relegated Norwich City ahead of champions Leicester City in its ‘Profitability Index’ for 2015/16 and notes that Blackpool managed five straight years in profit as they plummeted down the league pyramid.
The report, though, expressed a good opinion of  Burnley for their sustainable approach, point out that Leicester managed the rare feat of making a profit while winning the league and say Spurs are the most profitable club since 2008.
The real problem for the Premier League, according to Bell and Purcell, will come when the 70 per cent three-yearly increases in domestic TV rights dry up.
Purcell said: “We’re getting to the point where the cycle of ever bigger domestic TV deals is unsustainable.
“I think we’ve had seven renewals since 1991 and they work to a formula – if we follow the trend, the next deal will have to clear £8billion.
“I don’t think there is any way BT or Sky can commit to that kind of money. OK, you can put on more live games, and we’ve seen that trend already, but ultimately dilutes the product.
“I suspect we are heading towards a European Super League where the new breed of owners, many of them from North America, can organise the type of league they know and understand: fixed squads, salary caps, big TV events.
“That is when I think the likes of Amazon, Google and Facebook would get interested in football rights.”
Bell added: “The EPL was formed to gain increased monies from broadcasting. There is nothing to stop the top six or seven clubs breaking away and joining forces with other top clubs from Italy, Spain, Germany etc, forming a European Super League and negotiating a Europe-wide or even global TV deal for many, many billions of pounds.”
